• From Handmade Lace to Hot Beaches •

Let "insider" Paola Loi and "outsider" James Martin guide you through a cultural tour of the continents most exotic and enigmatic island. Sure, youve heard of Sardinias spectacular free beaches and dazzling blue water, and we have over 40 sun-drenched and sandy suggestions for you--but then let us turn things inside out and introduce you to a whole other side of this crossroads of culture, this legendary Ichnusa, Gods footstep smack in the middle of the Med. Well take you from the saffron fields to the lace makers, from the Romanesque churches to the fantastic festivals that youll have to see to believe, including a sacred horse race called lArdia that makes the Palio di Siena look like childs play.

And we wouldnt forget the unique archaeology: giants tombs, witches houses, sacred wells, and those stone towers called nuraghi. This isnt "ordinary" Europe.

Inside youll find over 700 high resolution photographs, maps, and videos documenting the best of the island, from the best places to stay (no corporate, cookie-cutter boxes!) to the best places to eat, with explanations of the traditional foods you should taste.
